Two teen girls thwart attempted abduction
Authorities say man approached pair as they waited at a school bus stop Tuesday morning in Decatur Township.

An attempted abduction of two teen-aged girls at a school bus stop in Decatur Township has authorities on alert today.
A note has been sent to parents of students at Decatur Central High School and Decatur Middle School warning them of the reported attempted abduction, which occurred at 7:10 a.m. Tuesday at a bus stop in the 4500 block of San Diego Drive.
A police report says that the two girls, ages 14 and 17, were waiting by the road when an unidentified white male came up from behind, grabbed both of them on the arm and yelled, "Come on, you're coming with me."
The girls pulled away, then said the man motioned at what looked like the handle of a dark-colored small handgun from inside his sweatshirt. He then took off running into the Valley Brook Mobile Home Park.
No one was injured.
Both the Marion County sheriff's department and the Decatur Township schools police are investigating the Southwestside incident.
The neighborhood is just outside of I-465 between Indianapolis International Airport and South Kentucky Avenue.
The girls told investigators that a similar incident had occurred two days earlier to a third victim, who also managed to escape unharmed.

WTHR-Channel 13, the Star's newsgathering partner, reported that the notice sent home to parents described the suspect as a white male in his mid 20s. The school district said it will add security at bus stops near Valley Brook. |
