[Ben]: | Thank goodness for unbiased, taxpayer supported journalism | Discuss This [3 comments so far] View Comments | Tam sheds some more light on an NPR interview in which the "gun blogger" chosen to hold up the Pro Gun end of the discussion was, in fact, Tracee Larson - a professional astroturfer associated with the American Hunters and Shooters Association an inaptly named anti-gun organization which tries to masquerade as a pro-gun group.
They picked an anti-gun "gun blogger" with a total of three posts - all in January of this year. They sidestep the gun bloggers with thousands of posts, decades of experience with firearms and active in pro-liberty political causes to pick some no-name anti-gunner in sheepdog's clothing.
This was no accident. This was an orchestrated effort to make the "opposition" as softball as possible. The organizers of this show were not merely incompetent, they were intentionally and maliciously dishonest.
Tam obtained an email that was sent to another gun blogger:

Subject: NPR show On Point needing progressive gun guest
Hi Mr. Blogger,
My name is Matthew Baskin and I work for the NPR program On Point with Tom Ashbrook. I’m writing to ask if you’d be able to speak as a guest on Monday, January 17. We’re looking for a gun owner and 2nd Amendment supporter who is not opposed to the forthcoming McCarthy bill re: limiting magazine capacity. I’d be very grateful if you could put me in touch with any gun owner who is not opposed to regulation. Let me know if anyone comes to mind. Thanks very much.
Best,
Matthew Baskin |
In typical style, Tam sums the situation up:
Imagine the howls if the email had read "We’re looking for a civil-rights activist and 14th Amendment supporter who is not opposed to keeping the black man down just a little bit..." |
