Late last night I pulled the truck into the garage and tore down the console and dash. It looked something like this:
I took out my temporary fix and put in the new part. The replacement part ended up being from Ford because no one could get me the aftermarket for cheaper than $50 and a Ford part was $60 out the door. That is despite several places advertising replacement blend door actuators for less than $20. Oh well, at least it is fixed.
While I was at it, I took the center console completely out of the truck and cleaned it up before reinstalling it. Now the hot chocolate that Jon spilled on it is gone.
