Source Anyone else remember when a dollar was worth more than a Euro? Remember when a pile of Canadian money was worth less than a dollar? Cash has always been a bad investment, but this is getting to be ridiculous. I've got one mutual fund that has appreciated 11% since late May (considering routine investments along the whole period - actual increase over that time period was 27.91%) which has more than made up for minor losses in other funds. I thought I was doing well ... but given the exchange rates I'm wondering if it wouldn't just make more sense to buy some foreign currencies. Probably not. I'm still getting a significantly better return in a few good mutual fund, but it's getting depressing how quickly inflation is depressing cash-on-hand. I'm glad I decided to invest in a few International funds when I started.
