Straight from the pages of a Robin Cook novel ... Peruvian villagers are complaining of health complications after a meteorite struck nearby.
Rescue teams and experts were dispatched to the scene, where the meteorite left a 100-foot-wide (30-meter-wide) and 20-foot-deep (six-meter-deep) crater, said local official Marco Limache.
"Boiling water started coming out of the crater and particles of rock and cinders were found nearby. Residents are very concerned," he said. |
That's a big hole. I'm going to guess that this does not involve the meteorite as such, but rather has more to do with some type of trapped gas being released by the impact. Still, very bizarre.
